چکیده
Hallidie-Smith, K. A. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 725. Murmur of persistent ductus arteriosus in premature infants. A longterm survey of the repeated clinical examination of premature newborn infants is reported. There were 52 infants in whom there was well-documented clinical and phonocardiographic evidence of delayed closure of the ductus arteriosus. The ductus is believed to have closed spontaneously in 47 of them before 6 months of age and to have persisted in 5. Nine infants developed heart failure and all were treated medically. 8 recovered and the ductus subsequently closed spontaneously. The ninth (birthweight 1132 g) died in heart failure with a widely patent ductus. The characteristics of the various murmurs ascribed to the persistent ductus arteriosus are described and discussed. Extreme lability of the factors determining flow through the duct is suggested by the rapidly changing characteristics of the murmurs recorded.

Patent ductus arteriosus in a lamb: A case report
Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a persistent patency of a vessel normally present in the fetus that connects the pulmonary arterial system to the aorta. The ductus arteriosus fails to close at birth when breathing commences and placental blood circulation is removed. Closure of the ductus arteriosus arises in response to decline pulmonary vascular resistance and increased systemic vascular re...
متن کاملAortography in infants.
Making a diagnosis of a patency of a ductus arteriosus is often difficult in the first few months or first year of life. When the diagnosis is in doubt, one may profitably turn to angiocardiography for help. In this paper a method of demonstrating the patent ductus by the injection of contrast medium is described. The practical importance of the correct diagnosis is presented with reference to ...
متن کاملEarly and late outcome of treatment with oral ibuprofen in preterm infants suffering from patent ductus arteriosus: A randomized clinical trial
Background and Objective: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents are the treatment of choice for ductal closure in premature newborn. This study evaluates early and late outcome, as well as the effectiveness of oral ibuprofen in the treatment of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in premature infants. Methods: In this clinical trial, all preterm infants below 37 weeks, with documentation of PDA w...

AIMS To identify the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) shunt flow pattern using Doppler echocardiography; and to assess whether it could be used to predict the development of clinically significant PDA. METHODS Premature infants weighing under 1500 g, who required mechanical ventilation, and in whom daily echocardiography could be performed from day 1 until the ductus closed, and on day 7 to con...
متن کاملIntravenous Paracetamol and Patent Ductus Arteriosus Closure
Background: Standard medical treatments for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure are, including indomethacin/ibuprofen and surgical ligation. Nowadays, a new strategy to close PDA is the use of paracetamol. The present study aimed to describe the use of intravenous (IV) paracetamol for PDA closure in neonates who present a contraindication to ibuprofen or ibuprofen failure with no possibility...
